Tigers vs. Athletics - August 10, 2007

Fun with the Kids at Comerica Park

Even though the game was a bloodbath (the Tigers lost 16-10) Anne and I had a great time with the kids at Comerica Park.  Anne bought me tickets for this game on Father's day.  By the time the game started every seat was occupied.

Detroit was behind at one point 8-1, but came back on a three run fourth inning and a five run 5th inning, capped off with a grand slam from Marcus Thames.  However, Detroit's pitching continued to struggle and the A's scored another 8 runs. Our "rally caps" helped the Tigers catch up from an 8 to 1 deficit, but once they A's had sixteen runs, we knew it was over.

We stayed until the end to watch the fireworks.

Christine really paid attention to the game since I had promised her that if the Tigers were losing by three runs, I'd take her on the merry-go-round.  Once the Tigers were down by 7, I took her on the ferris wheel.

Nick kept score for most of the game.  At one point in the second inning, a foul ball came our way and it passed a foot above my hands as I jumped up to catch it.  The man in the seat behind me caught it.  We were right on the first base line and had quite a few come near us.  We were pretty tired by the time the game was over.

I was able to get several good fireworks photos with my camera and a tripod.  I had 4 to 10 second exposures was happy with the way they turned out.  Christine stayed awake the whole time and was very excited after the game.
