Trip to Hilton Head - August 8 - 22, 2008

On August 7,  Anne and the kids and I drove to Hilton Head SC for our 9th year on the Island.  This was the first year we drove.  Normally we fly to Hilton Head, but since we were going to be there for two weeks, we decided to drive.  We stayed one night in Knoxville and drove to Hilton Head the next day.

When we arrived in Hilton Head, we had excellent weather for most of the first week.  Nick went to a "tubing" camp, where he went tubing (being pulled in an inner tube by a speedboat) with other teens.  He had a great time.  Christine went to a "princess" camp, where she watched movies and had her nails done with other girls her age.

For the rest of the trip, we spent a lot of time on the beach and swimming.

The kids had a great time at both of the pools at our time share

Christine collected many shells and found a lot of sea life on the beach like this sand dollar:

We saw many beautiful sunsets:

Nick celebrated his 14th birthday at the Salty Dog, his favorite restaurant:

We spent a day in Savannah:

Hurricane Fay paid a visit for the last two days:

Even with the bad weather for the last three days, we would have several hours each day with sunshine and beautiful waves followed by severe storms.

We said goodbye to Hilton Head on our last night when we visited Shelter Cove
