Game 3 - May 11, 2009 - Plymouth Lasers - 5 Farmington - 1
The Lasers were without Kevin tonight, and we still managed to play an outstanding game. We hope Kevin feels better and that he'll be back soon. The team did a great job with passing and defense. Our goal keepers were largely unchallenged due to a strong defense. Three different players (Joe, James and Jon) scored tonight, with assists from three other players. Our midfield was solid and our offense pressed all game.
Here's our players did:
Joe was fantastic on offense tonight! He scored two goals and had two assists. He kept the pressure on Farmington all night and did a great job passing to his teammates when they were open. He retrieved the ball many times when it was deep in our territory. Mark played a strong goal keeping position in the first half. In the second half, he was outstanding on offense and defense. Brian was very effective on defense tonight with excellent stops and steals. Nick really played an outstanding game at left midfield. He made many stops and blocks and even had a couple of 'headers'. In the first half he made an outstanding pass in front of the goal to Jon who scored. Carter had tremendous speed and power for the defense. He would come out nowhere and quickly attack the ball, break up the play and clear it to the offense. He also had an assist. Kyle was very aggressive tonight with several great shots on goal and passes. Austin was unstoppable tonight. He provided a lot of power at midfield as well as THREE assists!! Josh was quite good tonight with a lot of great stops and passes and several impressive shots on goal from a long way out. He protected our defense well and kept the attack going. Paul really did quite well on midfield in spite of an earlier injury in track practice. He made many great stops and passes. James scored two goals tonight; both very impressive. The first one he took in by himself after a pass from Austin and drilled it deep into the goal. The second goal he got a great pass from Joey and chipped it in. Bradley played outstanding defense and midfield, he had an assist and made several good corner kicks. Jon scored his first goal of the season with an impressive shot. He played outstanding offense and later played a very quick and devastating defense. Evan was fantastic on defense, breaking up many attacks on our goal and clearing the ball. Chris was outstanding on defense and midfield. He allowed no one past him and he fought hard at midfield, making many great passes to the offense. Dan was outstanding on defense in the first half. In the second half he allow no goals with awesome goal keeping. Drew was fantastic at midfield all game with great passes and blocks. Craig provided a lot of spark to our defense with great stops and steals.
