Game 6- June 10, 2009 - Plymouth Lasers - 3 Novi - 3
Once again, we played the relentless Novi team, but this time, we did much better. We tied this unbeaten team. We actually had a 3-2 lead until the last five minutes when Novi scored and tied us. We played an outstanding game, a much better offensive attack and a very aggressive defense. We were short handed due to field trips and middle school graduation activities. Jamie and Yash helped us with this game so that we would have three subs every shift. Even with three subs, every player played long shifts and really came through for us. Coach Wyatt did a great job subbing the players in and out all game. I was very impressed with how the boys analyzed the attacks and discussed changing strategies during half time. They recognized the attack patterns of the Novi offense and adjusted accordingly. They've really matured as a team.
Here's what our players did:
Joe had two assists and was fantastic protecting our goal, attacking the Novi goal and clearing our zone. Mark was great on defense in the first half, and exceptional in the second half, stopping dozens of shots on goal and denying several goals. He was also credited with an assist as a goal keeper! Jamie really helped us a lot at midfield and defense, stopping several scoring plays from Novi. Nick had an assist and was great tonight with aggressive blocking, defense (he saved a goal) and clearing. Kyle was great at midfield. He made several stops and saves and great passes. Yash was a great help to us tonight. He scored a goal and kept the pressure on Novi all game. Josh wasn't feeling well but played great in midfield and on defense. His speed and power really helped us. Paul provided a lot of power to the midfield and defense. He was fantastic in covering the fast Novi offense. James was great in goal in the first half, making many great saves. In the second half James scored a goal. Dan was a super hero on defense tonight with great stops and clears and playing all the way up to midfield as a defender. Jon was fantastic defending our goal all game. He cleared the ball out of danger and set up several scoring attempts. Evan played defense and midfield exceptionally well. He saved several goals and cleared on zone. Drew scored our first goal tonight. He also was great at midfield and defense. Craig was outstanding on defense and midfield. He cleared the ball out of harm's way many times.
