Game 7- June 6, 2009 - Plymouth Lasers - 0 Novi - 3
The Lasers played very well against the Novi team which had previously beaten us 6-2 in game 1. We utilized our "rope a dope" strategy throughout most of the game containing their great shooters, but we could not generate a strong offense without sacrificing our defense. Everyone played their best throughout the entire game.
Here's what our players did:
Joe was our 'anchor' on defense, stopping many shots on goal as well as setting up offensive attacks. Mark was absolutely heroic in goal all game today. He stopped 30 shots on goal with amazing saves matched up with a great defense. Kevin also played defense exceptionally well. He took turns with Joe and James in scoring opportunities. Kevin made great stops all game. Nick played offense and midfield today very well. He made several great blocks and passes. Kyle played exceptionally well on the left wing today fighting for the ball and saving many goals. Austin was our firewall at midfield today, blocking many attacks and clearing the ball well. Josh was great at midfield and defense making some amazing stops and clears and blasting the ball back to Novi's back field. Paul was very strong on midfield today. He played hard and covered the Novi offense well. James really hustled well today. On defense, offense and midfield James made spectacular plays. Bradley was super strong on defense all game, clearing the ball well into the Novi zone. He also made several great steals and blocks. Jon was our 'cannon' today. He played a forward defensive position and blasted the ball over the Novi defender's heads. Evan played offense much of the game and the he provided the defense with some much needed help. He was fantastic all game. Chris was very physical today at defense, blocking every player coming into the box trying to score. Carter made several great stops and amazing clears on defense. Drew was great on both offense and defense. He was on top of his game with great blocks and his setting up several scoring attempts. Craig played all of his shifts on offense making great blocks and midfield. Brian played offense all of his shifts as well. He was a great help to our team keeping the pressure on Novi.
