Game 8 - June 13, 2009 - Plymouth Lasers - 4 CW3 Red - 1
After playing the brutal Novi team twice in one week, we faced the CW3 team on Saturday for our last game as a team. The Lasers played much better with great execution on offense, defense, midfield and goalkeeping. We found out before the game that Mark had broken his finger playing goal in the Wednesday game. He continued playing the game in spite of his broken finger. His doctor prohibited him from playing game 8, but Mark did suit up and cheered us on. Great way to end our season and our team with a fantastic victory!
Here's our players did:
Joe scored our first goal in an amazing shot after receiving a corner kick from James. Joe also had an assist and provided great power to the offense and defense. Kevin was fantastic on offense, with several close shots on goal and three assists! Nick had several great passes and steals at midfield and provided a lot of support for the offense. Kyle attacked the goal with several close shots. He made several great stops near our defensive zone and played an outstanding game. Austin fought hard at midfield and thwarted many attempts from CW3 to cross midfield. He cleared the ball out with his head on many occasions. Josh was great at midfield, with several zone clearing passes to the offense and many more booming kicks to interrupt a scoring chance by the opposition. Paul was great at right midfield protecting our zone and making great recoveries of deep passes from CW3 into our backfield. James had two assists and one goal today. The most amazing thing was that James was defense most of his shifts. He was great today! Bradley played great midfield in the first half and goal saving defense in the second half. Jon was simply amazing on defense, stopping every ball that came his way and blasted every ball back to our offense. Evan had several great saves as right defender, and while moving up to a midfield spot, Evan kept the pressure on with great passes to the offense. Chris made a huge difference on defense today with his power. He played his last shift on offense and came very close to scoring. Dan played in net all game. He did a fantastic job, only allowing one goal - a penalty kick. Dan made many incredible saves. Drew primarily played midfield today but he scored TWO GOALS! Drew was fantastic with many exciting steals, attacks and shots on goal. Craig made it look so easy today, covering every player in his zone and stealing, intercepting and blocking all game. Brian played most of his shifts on defense, but one shift in offense was great too. He played an inspired game, stopping every shot and making great passes. Carter cleared the ball out of our zone time and time again, while at the same time focusing on stopping our opponents' passes and shots.
