UNDER 7 & UNDER 8 HOUSE RULES

GAMES SHALL BE PLAYED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE "LAWS OF THE GAME" AS PUBLISHED BY FIFA, INCLUDING THE MODIFICATIONS MADE BY WSSL, AND THE FOLLOWING PLYMOUTH RECREATION MODIFICATIONS.

PRE GAME RULES

During play one coach from each team is allowed on the playing field.

Each player reporting to a team who is present at the start of the game shall play at least one-half of the game (2 quarters) unless injured. Advice to Coaches: It is recommended that each child play 3 quarters whenever possible. It is also recommended that each child be given the opportunity to play a variety of positions.

LAW V. REFEREES

Shall stop the game upon noticing an injury to any player.

LAW VII DURATION OF THE GAME

Four twelve minute quarters. Teams change ends only at the half.

LAW X METHOD OF SCORING

Mercy Rule: Whenever a team has a three-goal advantage, the opposing team may add 1 player to the field. If the goal differential increases, one additional player may be added for each goal scored to a maximum of 11 players. If one team has a shortage of players, coaches may remove players from the field to make up the difference in the mercy rule. No team will play with less than 5 players (including keeper) on the field. If the goal differential decreases, player(s) shall return to the field in the same manner. Please keep in mind, we want the players to play�.not sit because of the mercy rule.

LAW XI OFF-SIDE

The referee shall enforce the offside rule to the best of his/her ability considering the single referee system that is in use.

LAW XII FOULS AND MISCONDUCT

Slide tackling is prohibited and shall be considered a penal foul.

The goalkeeper shall be allowed a few extra steps (more than 4) in order to successfully distribute the ball. Advice to referees: Stop play (if necessary) to prevent an excessive number of steps, and instruct the keeper to put the ball in play. An indirect kick shall not be awarded for violation of this section.

LAWXV THROW-IN

Players shall be given two attempts to make a successful throw-in.

LAW XVI GOAL KICK

Goal kicks shall be taken from the 14-yard line. Opposing players must be 10 yards away.

POST GAME RULES

Both teams, including coaches, shall be required to exhibit good sportsmanship in the exchange of handshakes at the middle of the field following the end of the game.
